The session brought together senior officials
Today, @MoPIED_Somalia and @caresom convened a highly productive and collaborative meeting to review the findings of their jointly produced Accountability Report — a key document assessing the progress, challenges, and lessons learned from ongoing development initiatives across Somalia.
The session brought together senior officials, technical experts, and development partners, all committed to strengthening the partnership between the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development and CARE Somalia. Discussions primarily focused on aligning CARE-supported development programmes with the priorities and strategic objectives outlined in the upcoming National Transformation Plan (NTP 2025–2029). This alignment aims to ensure that development interventions are not only sustainable and inclusive but also directly responsive to the government’s long-term vision for national growth and resilience.
Participants also emphasized the significance of reinforcing the government-led National Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) system to enhance transparency, accountability, and evidence-based policymaking. Strengthening this system will allow for better tracking of progress, improved coordination among stakeholders, and more effective use of resources to achieve tangible results for Somali citizens.
Both @MoPIED_Somalia and @caresom reiterated their shared commitment to deepening cooperation, promoting local ownership of development programmes, and fostering a culture of accountability that supports Somalia’s path toward stability, economic recovery, and sustainable development. The meeting concluded with a joint pledge to continue working closely to ensure that all development efforts are harmonized under national frameworks and deliver meaningful impact across the country.
