U.S. Recognition of Somaliland Could Transform Horn of Africa, Says Lawyer David Anderson

David Anderson, an Australian-American lawyer, has reported to international media that the Trump administration is considering recognizing the Republic of Somaliland, a move he describes as historic and potentially transformative for the Horn of Africa.

In his findings, Anderson highlighted that Somaliland, which was formerly a British colony, has successfully governed itself since declaring independence from Somalia in 1991. He emphasized the peaceful nature of this transition and the region's commitment to self-governance.

Anderson commended Somaliland for establishing a framework of free elections, civilian governance, and reliable security, positioning it as a model for other regions facing similar challenges.

In a report referenced by the SOLNA news agency, he elaborated that U.S. recognition would not only bolster Somaliland's international standing but also pave the way for increased investment, security partnerships, and business opportunities.

As discussions unfold, the potential recognition by the U.S. could signal a significant shift in regional dynamics, fostering stability and economic growth in a historically volatile area.
