Western Sahara

Protesters from various nationalities, including human rights activists, European solidarity groups, and members of the Sahrawi community, have gathered in large numbers outside the Moroccan embassy in Berlin, Germany. The demonstrators have surrounded the embassy, chanting slogans and carrying banners that condemn what they describe as the ongoing Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara.

Participants called on the international community, particularly the European Union and the United Nations, to take firm action to end the decades-long conflict and to uphold the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination as enshrined in international law. Many protesters waved the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) flag, while others carried photos of political prisoners detained in Moroccan jails, demanding their immediate release.

Organizers of the protest stated that this demonstration is part of a wider global campaign aimed at increasing pressure on Morocco and raising awareness about the plight of the Sahrawi people. They emphasized that the continued silence of the international community only prolongs the suffering of the Sahrawis living under occupation and in refugee camps.

The protesters also urged Germany and other European nations to reconsider their relations with Morocco and to support the Sahrawi people’s legitimate struggle for independence and justice. The atmosphere in Berlin was charged with emotion, as chants of “Free Western Sahara” echoed through the streets, symbolizing a renewed call for solidarity and freedom.
