José Mourinho Criticizes Current World Cup Atmosphere: “I Will Start Watching From the Knockout Stage”



José Mourinho has expressed his disappointment with the current edition of the FIFA World Cup, saying that some matches have failed to meet the level of excitement and intensity he expects from football’s biggest tournament.

The Portuguese coach revealed that he has stopped watching some games after only a few minutes because he was not impressed by the atmosphere or the quality of the competition.

“For me, the World Cup is the highest level of football. It is the peak of the peaks,” Mourinho said. “It is not normal for World Cup matches to end with scores like 7-1 or 5-1.”

Mourinho believes that the tournament should feature more balanced and competitive matches, as the World Cup represents the ultimate stage where the best teams in the world compete.

The former Champions League winner added that he would prefer to wait until the knockout rounds before fully following the action, expecting the later stages to bring stronger competition and more dramatic encounters.

“From the knockout stage, I will start watching the real World Cup,” Mourinho concluded.
