Cristiano Ronaldo Set to Retire from International Football After 2026 World Cup, Says Sister


Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to retire from international football following the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to comments made by his sister, Katia Aveiro.

Speaking to SportTV in remarks shared by Fabrizio Romano, Katia suggested that the tournament will mark the end of Ronaldo's legendary journey with the Portuguese national team.

> "Enjoy it while it lasts. It's ending soon. The information I have, from a reliable source, is that this will be his last dance."



If confirmed, the 2026 World Cup would bring the curtain down on one of the most remarkable international careers in football history. Ronaldo has represented Portugal for more than two decades, becoming the nation's all-time leading appearance-maker and goalscorer while helping the team win major international trophies.

At 41, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner continues to play a crucial role for Portugal as the team pursues World Cup glory. However, no official retirement announcement has yet been made by Ronaldo himself. Recent reports indicate that while his sister's comments fueled speculation, Ronaldo has said any decision regarding his international future will be made calmly after Portugal's World Cup campaign concludes.
